Is schizoaffective worse than schizophrenia? DX’d Sz SzA Schizophrenia com
Pure schizophrenia is typically more severe. The people on this site who have achieved the most complete recoveries are mostly pure schizophrenics. Apparently one person was waiting for 92 hours in emergency room to be admitted to psychiatric care hospital. But it’s ok if you can’t work due to needing to keep your stress low.
I’ve been told by a few psychiatrists when in PHP that schizoaffective disorder responds to treatment better than schizophrenia. Don’t know if they’re right or why that is. I sometimes wonder whether I’m a fraud being here, or others regard me as a fraud. Social cognition is, without doubt, the area in which I’m most disabled schizophrenia wise. More so than the average person with just an ASD diagnosis.

You should only consume around 2L per day. The zyprexa is known to cause thirst as a side effect. I once heard about a woman dying from too much water, but I have to imagine that would be A LOT. Only thing is it takes away lots of time in recovery. I’m also losing weight while olanzapine. I do have to work hard at it but it is possible to do.

- I’m also losing weight while olanzapine.

- It’s not about submission or defiance but rather about acceptance without engagement.

It’s common knowledge that too little is bad, but what about too much? Some nurse commented I drank a lot of water one time, and talked about electrolyte imbalance or something, but I can’t remember the details. I have lost lots of time but I believe I have recovered with sz by proper support, meds and forgiveness. I took clozapine for a week I just kept passing out. I probably won’t be taking cobenfy as it’s expensive and anything like a med taken in my past.
- It’s very good that the results for Alzheimer are positive.
- I spent 8 years in the workforce and I had to hide my illness.

New global treatment guidelines for schizophrenia
The hallucinations aren’t are prevalent as they once were. I get paranoid and I think people are plotting against me. I don’t like being around other people. I can’t follow conversations in a group setting.
So I want to hear from your experience about once daily zyprexa vs twice daily zyprexa for whatever illness you might have. It’s also still not clear whether I have schiozophrenia or schizoaffective disorder or perhaps just bipolar + Asperger’s without any schizophrenia. I was wondering whether this twice a day regiment is helping me with something other than schizophrenia.

Theoretically no, it just feels like it because you’ve stabilized and you’re on the right path to recovery. Jennifer Strange entered a water-drinking competition to win a Wii for her children, but died of acute water intoxication instead. A jury has awarded her family $16.5 million in a wrongful death suit that found the radio station liable for her… Too much of anything is a bad thing.
I need a relatively lower dose of a heavy hitter like risperidone (3mg) to remain stable mood wise.A lightweight like Cobenfy probably wouldn’t cut it for me. I want to provide some caution around that we know that about 30% of clients with schizophrenia may be treatment resistant, and that may not be solely due to a dopaminergic problem. And so, there is a reason why we should provide some caution for something like clozapine.”
If you find the divided dose helpful, then that’s a great thing. It’s not about submission or defiance but rather about acceptance without engagement. Grounding techniques, therapy, medication, and support can all play a role in how to handle hallucinations.

I’ve been described as ‘in remission, with some breakthrough symptoms’ That sounds contradictory to me. I’ve been on medication for 30 years with no relapses. I no longer hear voices regularly. Maybe sometimes if I’m really stressed. I have visual and tactile hallucination more then auditory. I don’t understand the mechanism, but I feel better off satisfying the thirst than ignoring it.
The guideline recommends first-line treatment with an antipsychotic with a lower overall side effect burden, such as a D2 partial agonist (eg, aripiprazole). If two antipsychotics are ineffective at therapeutic doses for 4–6 weeks, clozapine is recommended, with plasma monitoring and adjunctive metformin to reduce metabolic risk. If clozapine is not feasible, switching to olanzapine or augmentation strategies (eg, with aripiprazole or electroconvulsive therapy) may be appropriate.” When i used to take Olanzapine, i used to take it in divided doses.
