Department of Zoology, of the Gramgeeta College, Chimur, is a renowned teaching centre with well equipped laboratories in tribal area. It is one of the finest departments of this Institute with 11 years of existence. It was established in 2009, form three different groups with Botany, Chemistry, Environment and Microbiology.
The Department of Zoology, has a three renowned faculty namely Dr. A. A. Dhamani (Principal), Dr. N. R. Thaokar and Dr. S. K. Waware. The department has produced a good batch of student who was surviving in external world. Alumni of this department have made their marks in various institutions and fields. Presently the department runs undergraduate programme. Besides curricular activities in the department, faculty members are seriously engaged in co curricular and extension activity in moulding the students and research in the areas of reproductive physiology, endocrinology, entomology, environment biology and limnology.
Goal & Objectives
- Act as mentors to undergraduates through advising them in learning & research.
- Serve as good role models to students for safe and ethical professional behavior.
- Encourage students to value diversity and to develop a global point of view through International experiences in zoology.
- To disseminate knowledge on zoology and related areas through active participation in related professional activities, such as zoological Society, Workshops, Symposia/ Conferences.
- To create skilled man power of well trained zoologists, capable of taking up positions in various socio economic sectors of the nation.
- To build research capabilities in students as required by their growth, the national development and academic needs.
- To inspire the students towards better understanding and use of IT/Computer oriented knowledge.
- To inspire the students for competitive examinations.
